Clicky picture.
Hard to understand why a modern tunnel in Switzerland of all places didn't have some kind of impact absorbing device at the end of what I believe was an emergency/escape lane.

Heard on the news that driver may have been changing a DVD at the time. If so, perhaps that could have been prevented by having all non-driving functions allocated to the second crew member at all times. By law.

Well as a long time coach driver, having to deal with teachers and kids on long journeys, and the amount of times I have ever had to change dvd cd for the kids to keep them entertained on long journeys, I can see just how easy it is. But in all honesty when there is a second crew member, the driver should never have been changing it. But that is all speculation at the moment, it is just what has been mentioned by some of the fortunate survivors. I do really hope that this was not caused by something like this and that both the driver and the other victims did not loose their lives through something as unnecessary as a simple dvd. Yes it is a vanhool coach but it's hard to tell whether it is a volvo or not, could be Volvo, Daf or man powered.

hi there i live in holland a couple of dutch kids lost their lives too...... big big tradgedy for everyone. They had a church service which was broadcasted yesterday live on dutch en belgian TV , 13 small white coffins and the coffin of the driver. Heartbreaking to hear the the stories of the parents & brothers and sisters and loved ones. tears in your eyes within minutes. I hope as a parent NEVER to have to go through all the pain and misery these people are going through and what is yet to come.
Hope & pray they find a way to handel it
