Nutts hey

Right so heres where you guys come in, I have just bought myself a fine steed of a car, a 1988 740GL with a B200E with a not even run in 155k miles on the clock, mot till the day we leave (So hope we leave on time, still unsure whether I need one in europe, as far as MOT garages are concerned they don't know, the postoffice doesn't know, and neither does the dvla website!!), and tax good aswell.
There are a few bits I need, namely:-

1) 4 spare wheels and tyres with some tread on, must hold air well, and not be perished as its damn hot over there, and they'll explode

2) Some extra fog lights, and a swivel light/big ass 12v floodlight for camping purposes

3) A RADIO, I'm going nuts listening to this cassette I found in a junk yard, its Now thats what I call music 43, from like 1998, ITS HORRIBLE!! PLEASE GOD HELP ME OUT WITH AN MP3 CD PLAYER!!! (I will pay for this, but something cheap and nasty, that works would be nice )

4) I think I need a new rear windscreen motor, and a way to get into it without breaking the trim off, (appears I have to remove handle? but i can't get a screwdriver in there?)

5) spare bulbs, wiper blades, fuses (already got), starter solenoid possibly, already nicked a good starter and alternator off a B230ET I am selling, might have solenoid from it too, but not sure it is compatable with teh B200E. And random electrical junk that could go wrong

6) a sunroof seal please!!!! car has been parked under a garage in a previous life so been OK, I have no such garage and good looking roof liner is wrecked after just four days outside , I had UK weather

7) a fresh cam belt, and maybe some aux belts for spares (used is good)

8) A sub woofer, or maybe some big PA speakers to blast out some random tunes (i.e AVANT HARD to some cart driving mongolians?? ), this is semi serious, we are trying to get some sort of party thing going as apparently the irani's don't have parties, so we are going to take it to them, so strobes, neons, smoke effects, lasers, flashy things and lots of sound would help

9) A SUMP GUARD OR SHEET METAL SO I CAN FABricate my own underside protection, Ithought these cars had lots of ground clearance, however yesterday I knocked the rear exhaust off on a speedbump with just two large guys in the back and me, no extra gear,

10) some way of stiffening and raising suspension up a bit, to protect underside of car, and give us mud crawling clearance

11) a snorkel kit, sounds mad but the rivers in siberia and east russia are in full flood in summer/ late summer as siberia thaw's out annually

12) a gearknob that stays on the end of the gearstick

13) air filter, oil filters, spare plugs, ht leads, unwanted distributors, maybe used but still working good etc, random sensors that may go bust, A headgasket kit, maybe been open a while, put on a car, then taken off cos someone put it on upside down (not mentioning names ) basically service stuff that people don't want, or won't put on their car because its tarnished etc

14)LUCK, we need the luck of the irish to drive a mer car along 13000miles of back breaking stuff (Well the last 3k miles will be hell, averaging maybe 60miles a day, probably less, as apposed to the first months traveeling which will average a more prosperous 300-350 a day

15) OH and I also need a front right suspension damper, I think mines wrecked as that corner of the car bounces up at every bump

I thank anyone who can help me and my co driver, we are raising money for TARUD (rallies official charity, also known as cliveaid ) AND SEND A COW,, , AGAIN THANK YOU ALL!!!!

oh and I live in the north east of the UK in sunderland

You will definately need an MOT abroad. You may find some of the border controls may be funny if you don't have your FULL documentation with you. I'd get it MOT'd for only £40 quid to save hassle.

Best do a few copies too!

Sounds like an awesome trip!
