Default V50 - Poor Paint Work

I run an 07 plate (08 model) V50 2.0D SE Barents Blue Metallic.
I must say of all the cars (volvo's) I have had this one seems to have the poorest paint quality of all.

Mearly breathing on the body work causes scratches....ok, I exagerate but it does scratch very easily.
Has anyone else found this or did I get the car sprayed by the new guy in the plant that day ?

And, any suggestions as to get rid of the scratches and protect against new ones.

T-cut does not work for some reason too on this paintwork (tried in a small out of the way area)

hi, ive just got a 08 v50 in matalic black and im thinking the same thing about the paint work on mine, it scratches so easily even with me buying the best cloths and polish, and if i dont get birds muck off instantly then its to late and leaves a permanent mark which no amount of polish will get rid off.
do you know if there is some sort of warranty on paint work? because mine is going to look awlful before much longer.

First, a GOOD wax will prevent the bird poop eating into the paint. This should be kept in a VERY good condition in order to help it stop the poop issues.

The scratches are best removed by a machine. Get it detailed properly and make sure, that you wipe the paint with a microfibre cloth! Important aswell: don't wipe a car which has stood outside a while... -> dust scratches the paint more than anything.

Can i ask what car you used to own?

if it is anything german the clearcoat on german cars is really strong and annoying to polish

the volvo is more medium clearcoat hardness and easier to polish. i would not say it easy to scratch try owning honda paint or italian paint then you know soft paint.

my personal method would be a full APC clean down then hand polish using Lake County (LCC pads) orange one which has a nice level of cut using Menzerna 203S and then something like AG HD or Finish Kare 1000P or even Collonite of some form.

T cut put it in the bin.

you could of even seen some paint tbh.

a machine polisher will remove marks easily. mine is soft at the moment because it has seen a two stage machining
