I've done 12k on Pirellis and fronts are substantially more worn than I would have expected for this mileage. I'm doing a 3k round trip to Italy end of this month so think I may swap front to back before I go. Wimorrison, what tyres did you change to? Thanks

My front tires have also worn by a lot more on the front than the rear (11k miles) ... do you know approx how much a garage would charge to change them over?

It's always advisable to have the best tyres on the rear. Don't swap them around. When the fronts are ready to be changed then swap rears to front and put new fronts to the rear. Far far safer that way.

This would seem to go against tissue conventional wisdom and advice - why would you put your best tyres on non driving (or steering) wheels?

Sorry but conventional wisdom states new tyres to go on rear. Costco won't fit new tyres to the front unless you have a staggered setup.

Here's why. ......
