Fitting a turbo boost gauge to a T4
Hello, I bought an S40 2.0 T4 just over a week ago and would like to fit a boost gauge, partly because I suspect it may have already been chipped/remmapped (it seems a lot faster than I was expecting! :-) ), and monitoring the maximum boost would help to confirm that... I was wondering how easy they are to fit, and what the most suitable one for me would be (the BSR one for £30 at parts for volvo online looks like good value) The main thing I'm not sure about is where I would connect the vacuum pipe to - is there something on the inlet manifold it could plug into? and how to get the vacuum pipe through the bulkhead and into the cabin. thanks! :D Tim |

your right foggyjames we have been there before but i made a comment and you asked the question so i thought that i might as well tell all again.
No seriously i have given up on trying to find the problem so there will be no more on the subject from me. My wife had the best solution,Take that effing gauge out of the effing car or something along those lines. Cheers |

hmmm
Is it possible that the turbo is past its best after 130,000 miles?
Or did the boost suddenly go down? Was looking for the 2" grommet in the firewall behind the glovebox at the weekend, I saw what I think is the one people have described earlier on this thread - on the engine side a wiring loom dissappears into a cone shaped rubber thingy just behind the fusebox. So If I make a hole in that and push the vacuum pipe inwards and downwards it should appear magically in the passenger footwell?? |

It's probably different on every car. I know of one guy running 2 Bar, but as a rule of thumb wind it up until you hear ping, then wind it back down a bit!
