The thing is, i'm not getting any boost at all. Not anything like it used to. The whining sound is really distinctive and can be heard more clearly in the cabin. I've got the repair/rebuild kit on order now so hopefully by the end of the week i can get it all up and running again like it should. A rebuild guide will be coming very soon.

Have you checked that the actuator isn't stuck. It happened to mine once which resulted in no Boost made a wooshing noise as it was stuck and the waste gate was open. As it was just dumping the boost. If I remember correctly
Have you took off the heat shield? |

Hi Malteser,
Yes, i had the heat shield off which was covering the top side of the turbo and the oil feed pipe and i did move the actuator arm which seemed to be moving freely enough. I might get another actuator as a precaution just in case the rebuild kit doesn't do what i'm hoping it will.

Can someone tell me what other models the turbo control valves are on?
I'm also wondering if my control valve is a dud considering i'm getting no boost from my noisy turbo. Is there any way to test it to see if it is working? Also, can the lines and hoses to and from the turbo be cleaned and what would be recommended as a cleaning agent for them? Cheers guy's. Oh, while i'm thinking about it. My turbo rebuild kit is on it's way. It was much cheaper to get one for my TD04 turbo from America than it was to buy one from the UK. In fact, it was a difference of over £16, including delivery. I don't know if it has already been done but i will create a guide with some good quality pictures for anyone else who may be tempted in doing it themselves.

Ok,
On Monday the refurb/rebuild kit arrived but as luck would have it, the weather put a stop on any attempts at sorting out my issue. Today however, it was a pretty nice day and so i got to work. I am working on the guide but that it isn't my problem. I have completed the refurb and refit of the turbo but when running the car, the oil return pipe (i assume it is the return pipe) is blowing out oil where it meets the engine block. This pipe goes from the base of the turbo and into the engine block and it is about 1 1/2" in diameter. It's strange because it isn't adjustable, it didn't have a grommet or seal on it when i took it off and it never leaked or sprayed oil until tonight. I will take another look tomorrow when i'm fresh in mind and body but i wanted to know from anyone here who has removed a turbo of one of these vehicles if theirs had some kind of seal where this pipe goes partially into the engine block. I do have some instant gasket somewhere that i used on my old Peugeot 406' rocker cover as the gasket had blown and i think will work fine at the high temperatures closer to the base of the engine block. Any advice would be much appreciated here guy's.
