Default Problem removing key from ignition

When I turn off the engine of my S-reg S70, the key sometimes gets stuck at the position just before the 0, so that removing the key is difficult. I then have to jiggle it a few times in either direction before I am able to remove it. This is starting to happen regularly, and causing me some panic and so I would like to get this problem resolves asap. Anyone know what could be causing this problem and how to rectify it without breaking the bank? Thank you.

If its an auto then its probably the trigger on the gear selector getting stuck in which is to prevent the key being removed when the car is in gear, give it a squirt with some silicone spray or similar and work it till its free.

Yes, it's an auto. Sorry I don't understand what needs to be given a squirt - the gear selector? How do I get to it? I'm mechanically challenged. Please explain. Many thanks.

There is a small trigger on the gear selector that you depress to move the lever, it is this that sticks in and prevents the ignition barrel from releasng the key - Mike

To be honest it is quite easy to simply flick the trigger back out when you put the lever to Park, fine if only you drive the car, I used GT85 spray to lube the trigger and it's lasted about 6 months so far - Mike

Thank you, guys! It worked ok when I flicked the trigger back out. I will squirt it with some silicone spray or GT85.
