Looks like I was a bit late. I got here for about half 1 but there doesn't seem to be anyone about :-(

Maybe next time!

Hi, sorry that we missed you. They started running cars at 08.30. There were some interesting results!

Interesting results indeed

Only my second ever rolling road session attended and the first I've run one of my cars on. I'll post the photos I took later plus the info from my MTE remap on the D5. Now I know where the best bit of the engine performance lies

Many thanks to the guys and girls at Marlin Motor Engineers for looking after us and Don for organising this session .

Would be most interesting to see the various results...

What's with the various mount pics, Joules? I've been trying to make sense of it for a few minutes now

cheers

James

I've been trying to make sense of the engine mount pics for days now......

Results were very interesting, and interesting for me given one of the vehicles and the "chip" was a "top topic" at work this week, nice man at the place let me steal a copy of the plot LOL

It was an excellent day with some excellent results - and no gearboxes let go either

Cool, thanks. Very impressive numbers there

To be fair to Russ (and at the risk of biting ), his car does make ~80lbft of torque more than the next most torque-happy FWD Volvo I can think of (off the top of my head) in the UK...and there comes a point where the gearbox simply cannot cope. It may well be that, for example, 475-500lbft is the limit for an M56 in a standard-weight 850/70 on road-level rubber. It'll be lower on slicks, for sure.

It's a much more common problem in the RWD world where we generally have better traction...although the M90 is essentially the same as the M56 inside, you'll break them far quicker because the tyres are less prone to breaking loose and relieving the torque. It's quite a PITA, as the next step up is something like a Tremec T56...not cheap!

cheers

James
