Bleeding Clutch
S40 2000, 1.8 petrol
Hello all, Bleeding the clutch and would be grateful if someone here could tell me if what I'm going to do is correct. have a clutch pedal mate push the clutch pedal down - I loosen the bleed nipple, tighten it - pedal up. Repeat procedure (summary, going by the Haynes manual) Is this all there is to it? I've heard someone say that both slave and master ought to be bleed. Am I right in thinking that the slave cylinder is the one with the bleed nipple located beside the bell housing? If the master needs to be bleed too, how is this done? Cheers for any thoughts |

loosen nipple then press down then tighten then release pedal, sure it's that way...as for the the slave cylinder that's on the gearbox and master on the bulkhead, only on some cars can you bleed the master, I can't remember if you can on the volvos.....

I'm just about to go out and try it now and thanks for clearing up the master/slave thing too. Was trying to diagnose a juddery first/reverse clutch and hyper sensitive gear changes...then sometimes it's not so bad...it was the inconsistent behaviour that made me think it needed bled. Anyway, I'll go out and bleed it to death now, mate! Thanks again |
