Cool Air Conditioning

How often should my S60 be re gased?

Is it a simple job with a kit from Halfords for about £18?

Or is it better to get it done by the garage?

If I was to do it myself how do you know how much to put in?

My dads Accord needs doing also.

don't even contemplate doing it yourself,it's a specialist job that needs doing properly. If done incorrectly you can quite easily damage the system resulting in a bill running into hundreds of pounds.Pay £60 and get it done properly.

You usually need to regas after about 3 years. - less if it's not used for extended periods say over winter.
It should be used for a good 30 mins each week to keep the systme in good condition.

Funnily enough, after this last weekend I was just about to post the same question! There's another note on this forum about how to test if your a/c needs regassing and I did this at the weekend (ideal range 5 to 8 but I was getting about 11). But my thermometer wasn't the best so wasn't sure. But now I know it should be done every three years that settles it!

theres one simple test..all you have to do is measure the temp at the vents after A/c been running for about 5 to 10 mins..if temp above 3-4 degreesC then you have a problem otherwise its the gas is fine.just leave..i test mines every month..

a bit misleading im afraid theres no set "right" figure ,evap output depends on ambient temp, humidity etc obviously the hotter it is outside the higher the evap outlet will be heres a bit more http://au.geocities.com/ozbrick850/a...html#QuickTest
