You have more or less a 4" projector in your car. Now I'm not sure how much space there is in your lights to fit bigger projectors but you know you can fit upto a 4" one. If you want bi projectors you have to factor in where the motor is on the ones you want.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend. You could go for what I have listed below and in the real world you won't want more unless your like me and in a moment of madness want the best of the best. Even then don't forget that what one person thinks is best another person might not.

1pair of Bosch BiXenon Projectors - $120
1pair of ZKW-R Clear Lenses - $30
1 D2S Elite Kit - $160 boosted to 55w is extra $10
1pair of Shrouds of your choice - $25

You don't have to fit Volvo projectors in a Volvo. I have Lexus for instance so they are loads to choose from.

Yes you can say that a 55w ballast is no more than a boosted 35w but at the same time they're I'd a little more to it.

The benefits of having an oem ballast over an non oem is that the oem output is 35w the others have 35w input and output of somewhere just over 20w

D2s bulbs are better than H....whatever especially if in an oem projectors. Don't buy Philips as they are sh!t So are there ballast.
I assume you are talking about their HIDs because their halogen bulbs are actually excellent.

I've just swapped out some Nightbreaker Plus's for some Philips x-treme Vision bulbs. There is a big difference and the Philips really are worth the extra money. (£18 a pair vs £25 a pair)

I think it was the projectors (lenses) not the HID's.

Just spend the last hour reading through the thread and have a few questions please?

When fitting HIDs do I need to get the DRLs turned off or can I still run HIDs with DRL enabled?

When fitting the kit, where is the best place to put the earth and why is it needed? Dose the light wiring not already have an earth somewhere or is it just for the HID kits?

Non-HID question:
I've tried in the past to get my projectors out (facelift S40) and its a right PITA!! Has anyone else managed to do it yet?

I'm looking at getting this kit here, I know some have said go for the more expensive kits but a mate of mine has used these for a few months now with no issues but his has got his DRLs dissabled... But the kid dose come with a 2 year warranty though

I've run an earth from the negative output of the old headlight and it goes to where the strut meets the engine bay on each side. There is a group of earths already there. There are some horror stories of some HIDS frying the wiper motor, something to do with the way the lighting system/wiper motor configuration?

I haven't yet seen one with an earth lead.

Yeah I've managed to get them out and give them a clean, Three torx screws. One is a quite to get out, I used a flexible shaft to get mine out. There is a bit of flex in the plastic housing. Don't push too hard though!

I'd honestly go for the more expensive one now. I'm buying some next month, you can buy mine off me if you want?

Good luck by the way!
