Default 2003 s40 windscreen leak at top

Hi all, it's my first time on this forum today as not owned my Volvo long.

I have been going through the things which needed sorting out when I bought her, mainly changing of the front tyres, tracking, cleaning and currently buying all the parts for a service.

I have however recently noticed that my head lining is wet at the front where it touches the windscreen, when it dries out a stain is visible all the way past the sun visors.

Looking at the top rubber seal for the windscreen it appears very perished, almost sticky at times and it is possible to lift it away from where it mates with the roof.

So I am pretty sure the water is due to this tired seal but what I am wondering is:

Can I buy a new seal and replace it myself or is it bonded to the windscreen?

If it is bonded does this mean I need a windscreen replacement?

If so, would you be better to seal it with something (not sure what but along the lines of silicone) and wait till I need a new windscreen?

Thanks in advance,
Ricky

You may be able to get a windscreen company to do it on your insurance. but an excess may apply if they replace. I swear by this caravanning stuff;
captain tully's creeping crack cure, sounds mad but believe me its great, and cheap. Just google it and see.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Looks like I'm going to try some of that sealant.
