When my turbo hose split last year Kings Volvo in Southampton actually drove a new hose down to me so it could be fitted in my driveway. All that was done free of charge under warranty.
Anyway my V40 is now out of warranty so my local mechanic took a look at the EGR valve yesterday and said it was very coked up. (after 42K miles) It's now been cleaned and reassembled (cost around £40) and i'll be taking the car on a longish run next week to see if the noise has disappeared. Checking the EGR valve should be built into the service schedule IMO. Bobda - any developements with your Turbo and EGR? |

Well, nothing as such.
The garage who have been responsible for all this (same place I bought the car from) are doing all the work FOC as it was, in my opinion, their fault that the turbo blew. I'm getting a new EGR valve, new middle and back exhaust and a new turbo. Hopefully I will have it back by the end of next week so I can then report on whether the car is actually fixed, whether there was any engine damage when the oil was dumped out of the exhaust and whether I want to keep it, knowing the problems that I have had with it. |

Update - I went for a longish run this morning after the EGR valve was cleaned and the noise now appears to have gone.
No difference in performance/idling as far as i can tell. |

Well that's comforting to know I suppose!
Out of interest, where did you get it cleaned? |
