Barbara Morris
This is to let everyone know that Barbara is terminally ill.
We are all benefiting from her decades of tireless effort, putting the P1800, and the club, in the great public eye. Those of us who know her well, are so very fond of her. Those of you who have met her will never forget the day. And those of you who have only heard of her will know of the tremendous affection and respect that she commands. She has endured a considerable amount of chemotherapy, and is not well at all. She is being well cared for by the hospice and her sister and brother-in-law. She is still as we know her, cheerful, positive and forthright. So I have begun this thread for everyone to know. Please do not phone her, it would not be kind. Perhaps people would like to send their best wishes for every comfort possible, and make this a very special thread to a very special lady. |

I do not know Barbara, I`ve not even heard her name mentioned on here before either but I`ll humbly add my wishes to Barbara for :
A journey free from pain to somewhere better.

I'm another that never met Barbara. I have so often seen her name mentioned in The Driver, being involved in so many events.
Sad news indeed to hear.

message re Barbara
"I am saddened to hear the bad news regarding such a nice person when you
got to know her. She was always so fastidious regarding presentation of her P1800s for shows, and took great pride in showing me her Singer in her garage being readied for the show circuit when I bought a B20 engine from her last year. She also supported the Staplefield village classic car show amongst others, and her attendances will be sorely missed. Paul Till" |

Sorry to read this update. Yes Barbara is very much her own woman, and if personal courage, tenacity and will power was all that was needed for this fight, I'm sure she would win. However, some battles are much harder than others. The 1800 fraternity needs owners like her, but this time it looks as if a "Saint's" blessing won't be enough.
Drive away peacefully, Barbara. |

Barbara
I was very sad to hear the grim news about Barbara, especially as we go back many years. I second all the previous comments & tributes. Barbara is one of a vanishing breed of real classic car enthusiasts, and something of a trail-blaser with her international rallying. I will miss seeing her in her Volvos and Singer Roadster, which she invariably drove to the New Year's Day meetings at The Phoenix Pub, near Hartley Witney. She is also a fine lady and someone rather special. I wish her well and my thoughts are with her and her family.
