G/box: 2WD: volvo v40

hi put a post on in mid october to find gearbox for v40. found one and fitted it. now have 2 problems relating to gearbox.

number one problem cannot find reverse. gear stick goes into reverse slot but only picks up 1st gear.

number two problem when selecting 2nd gear the gear stick appears not to have full travel. no other problems with 2nd gear.

gears 1 ,3, 4, and 5 are fine. do i need to alter gearbox box selector rod length by mm or do i need to look else where. have thought about replacing bushes on gearbox linkage rod again. still use the car occasionally but careful were i park !!!!!. getting 200 miles to quarter of a tank.

any help or advice gratefully received.

seen this problem before on a fiesta.turned out to be the remote gear linkage/shafts hadn't been set up correctly when the box was replaced.
have a good look at these,don't think its much of a job.

Try to provide as much info as you can about your car, so ther can help. ie, model, year, engine size/type etc.

Anyway see if this is of any help
