Default Sorn warning

If , as I suspect many of you do, you tend to "accumulate" old Volvos, you will probably fall foul of the SORN system.
I have, due to not getting the logbook back from DVLA, although they are adamant it was sent.
£40, plus back tax .

If you buy a car with no tax, even if it is on SORN, YOU have to re sorn it yourself.OK WHEN THE LOGBOOK ARRIVES [IF], but without the V5C, use the doc ref no on the green bit.

Don't rely on DVLA to remind you, my mistake, or even to include a V11, you have to chase it yourself.

be warned.

Hope this helps,
James.

Noooo, don't pay the fine. I get a lot of fines from the DVLA for not SORNing and not informing of a change of owner both of which I always do in good time.
about once a week I get a letter form several different collection agency telling me they will take me to court and it will effect my credit rating etc if I don't pay within seven days. I have yet to receive a court summons or even anything remotely official and nothing shows on credit checks.
I do have prove of most sornings but can't be arsed wasting my time chasing the DVLA as they will never admit it is their error.

Infact afew days ago I received a tax reminder for a car I sold over a year ago and I have the letter from DVLA saying 'thank you for informing us of a change of owner' dated over a year ago.

Dealing with ANY government department is a stressful experience.

I know how to write letters, yet still I fail sometimes to make a mark or receive a response.

Government departments are (insert your own description here)

Boy I've got a good one! Mind it would just come out as 'Complete ******* useless *******!'

Dealing with the DWP on behalf of my Mother for incorrectly claiming a benefit she was entitled for is indeed extremely stressful indeed.

All another example of how the humble citizen has to justify himself to the state these days rather than the other way around like it should be.

These issues are actually aprt of the `design`, create difficulties every step of the way and the `have nots` that support the capitalist systems will NEVER reach the giddy wealth of those that benefit most from all of us being cash cows.

Too true!
My 164 has been on SORN for the past few years; I'm pretty certain the DVLA stopped sending out reminders about the same time they announced they would be automatically fining people if they weren't insured, regardless of being on the road or not....
