Default 850 2.5 clutch noise

Hi , my recently- acquired 850 2.5 20v makes a loud creaking or groaning noise when moving off in first gear .
Clutch works ok but this noise makes it difficult to move off smoothly , as trying to coordinate clutch/engine revs carefully makes the noise worse( what I mean is it's best to make the gear change as quick as possible , with plenty revs and no finesse!).
Just wonder if , after 196000 miles the clutch or operating mechanism is on it's last legs.
Thanks for any advice, Paul.

I have a similar noise when the clutch engages on first gear after startup in cold weather and the car has been standing around for a few days.

I have also heard about others with a high milage clutch having the same noise. Probably just a worn clutch plate, but it seems to have lots of life left.

Mine does the same. Apparently it's the clutch release bearing or something like that.
