Default Anyone know this car? V70 TDi in Cardiff

I've expressed an interest in this, if the right deal could be struck with or without the C70. Problem is that with ferries etc. if I was to go down the p/x route, I'm £300 out before I've even seen it, and if it turns out to be cack, I've to bring the C70 back with me.

Just wondering if anyone knows the car? Weren't Nivomats more or less standard on the V70s? I quite like the look of it, but I'm fully aware that it's nothing massively special, I just think it looks pretty cool and would be a respectable load lugger!

Any thoughts on it?

EDIT- They just responded saying they'd give me a £50 trade-in value for the C70 against their £2500 asking. I don't think I'll bother for some reason...

I think £2500 is very dear for a 13 year old car with 184,000 on the clock. The timing belt is over halfway through it's life too. It's a nice looking car, but £1500 would be more realistic.
The various "R" components add value, of course, but not that much!

Extending what's already been said, I don't think it's worth £2500

I paid £3k (from a dealer) in 2007 (6 yrs ago almost exactly in fact) for my 2000MY V70 with 172,000 on it.

OK a Diesel is worth a bit more, but that much more?

Factor in as well that all of those mod's would need declaring as they are no where near standard, and the increase in insurance makes it very unattractive.

A quick way to tell if a V70 has Nivomats is to have a look in the boot; if it has load cover, load net and roof rails then there is a good chance it has the Estate pack, which IIRC gives you nivomats.

Other problem I see with that is that it has a towbar... which means that the clutch could be on it's last legs (mine was at 172,000 without a towbar, but it did last until 225,000!)

If they've fitted Nivomats to something that didn't originally have them did they change the springs? Nivomats run a softer spring than the standard shocks.

Unfortunately nobody seems to want the C70 at the moment and they are very difficult to sell. I did manage to part ex my non turbo for a T5 this week.
I've still got 3 and am seriously thinking of scrapping a really nice 2.4 lpt because it is worth a lot more to me in parts than I will ever be able to sell it for.
Hopefully, one day, the market will pick up.

I wasn't prepared to pay anywhere near £2500 for it! Could get a lower mileage TDi elsewhere that still had its front fogs, and heated seats, and add wheels and R bumper from there, having effectively the same thing, but for a lot less.

Had it been up to scratch, £1500 was as high as I'd be prepared to go, or the C70 and £500...

I realise that C70s are worth sod all to 99% out there, as most in the market for old Volvos just want a big boot, found that out when I tried to sell my S70! The colour certainly won't help to ever sell it, but I'm hoping when the time comes that the Prins LPG kit does!

If all else fails, V70R, transplant the LPG kit and keep a lot of T5 spares...
