Car started just fine on Thursday morning. Drove into town to drop my girlfiend off at work, and then back over to the garage. EML was still lit but car was driving perfectly. Left it at the garage so they could sort out the light. Went to pick it up in the afternoon, they told me that they had adjusted the timing by a very small amount, and now the light wasn't coming on. Great, I thought. So I took my key back, got in the car, and... It won't start. So i got the mechanic out again, he eventually got it started but it sounded absolutely terrible, like the engine was about to blow up. Left it with them again.

The next day (yesterday) i went to pick it up again, he said they had now replaced the belt and tensioner on the other side of the engine (pump belt?) And now it was ok. I took it for a drive, it sounded fine and went as well as it always had done. So I was happy, until this morning! Took 5 or 6 attempts to get it started. Up until now it has always fired up on the first turn of the key, but now it's taking ages to get going. Once started it's fine, still runs and sounds good, and the EML hasn't come on.

As far as I know, my mechanic hasn't done any of the software programming that was mentioned earlier. Could this be the answer? As I said, the EML isn't on any more and car is running fine, it's just the starting issue now.
i Guess they have messed up the cam timing and possibly pump timing trying to get it right . The two cam pulleys do not have a keyway they are a taper fit and can go on any way . You need special tools to set the pulleys back o specification . THEN they still have to fine tune the timing by the diagnostic tool to get it within the parameters , Best get it done by a dealer and present the other garage with the bill If they dont have the knowledge to sort it ..
