The originals lasted well. however the standard replacments sold now are weak and I've had some snap very early on.

The landrover options looks a good one and well worth doing.

Seat-belt straps. Perhaps a bit weak, but I'm not planning on being airborne. They do keep the springs from falling-out.

Default Support Straps

Had the same problem with my 1800ES. No matter what I used the strapos broke and I tried most of the previous cures; answer, I mentioned the problem to a friend who works in a truck repair shop - the big over the highway flatbeds - that use tie down straps. Only took six foot each side as I becaime tired of the game and doubleed the thickness no problem since. Hope this is a help. By the way they do not have to be new strapping they withstand extreme forces. Regards from what will hopefully be the FORMER kingdom of Obama.

You dont have to take off, just the upward momentum of the body on a rough road and with no check straps the shockers are what will stop the travel, not doing the internals any good

Default rear axle straps

I agree with Paul.Jacking the car up without straps fitted, puts all the weight of the rear axle onto the shock absorber.I cannot remove my springs with the shockers in place, mine has later type swinging arms.It is better to have straps fitted, particularly if the shocker end spindles have corroded thin.
While under there checking, it is worthwhile checking the condition of the rear spring bottom cups. They do have a drain hole, check it is cleared of dirt and rust.
Chris.
