Can we see some pics of these dents because I cannot see any at all.
Won't really know until the wheel is off is my view and have a proper look. |

You can just about see the 2 dents, right on top of the door handle. Will take pics of the dents now.

I know the cheapest solution will be to get it aligned which I will do tomorrow morning. If it can't be aligned then what will be the damage on these parts (cost)? I don't want to get a heart attack if the bill for the part/s will cost considerably more. |

Well I would say get the wheel off before the alignment to have a look you might just get away if everything is okay with a 4 wheel one...
The other thing at play here is the focus on the rear wheel only is the front wheel okay (assuming the alignment is out there from that aspect to)? |

It can only be a kerb I that has caused the damage, to get that standard looking irregular rash effect it really has to be brushed along stone/concreate and really this can onloy come from a kerb. Kerb damage would also directly corrolate with the damage to suspension/hub too??
A motorcyle no matter how it hit your wheel would not make that type of damage. Bearing in mind we are talking about the car just being parked up in a Cul-de-sac for 5 min? Given the speed any motorcycle could even get up to and the damage to the wheel again I would have to say impossible, certainly with little to no other damage (bodywork). That's before we even get on to the fact that the impact would surely have drawn some attention and your car alarm would have also gone off? This damage had to be done on the move? I'm no expert and no accident damage investigator by any means, it is just my opinion from my experiences of driving and seeing damage on peoples cars over the years. |

This doesn't make sense or is it just me? was the car being driven at the time or parked up? 2 little dents above door handle and none around wheel area Mmm. could have been motorbike which would have caused more damage to body work.
The trailing arm where the spring sits in is about £80 from volvo. |

I have to agree with the others here, how has that damage been caused by a vehicle? As soon as I saw it I thought kerb damage, I actually went back and read the first post because I thought I had maybe read it wrong.
You can tell that that damage is caused by the car scraping along the kerb by the damage to the rim and the direction of the scuff marks on the tyre. If you had been hit by anything then there would be 100% some damage to the body work, especially around the wheel arch. Also this impact does not explain why your steering wheel is off centre? Are you certain some one has not collided with a kerb?

I agree with you there. Who else could've damaged a parked car? I only took the car out this afternoon and no where else, if it was damaged from before then I would've known straight away. It has to be some kind of a vehicle/bike that caused this damage. The car was driven this weekend apart from today. |

I know its been said before and if some one showed me them pictures i would say straight away its been rammed into a kerb, i see this all the time when i go to repair alloys. Theirs marks on the rubber and theirs dust off kerb/concrete on one shot so i would say its been kerbed theirs no way them wheels would get damaged all the way around like that if a vehicle or bike brushed past as you would have severe panel damage, ive been in the bodyrepair business years and i know the side would had been wiped out for the alloys to be so scuffed Zeb.
Did you lend the vehicle out at all mate as its a strange one that and i would say get alloys refurbed and 4 wheel alignment to see if somthing is bent, hope you get it sorted let us know the outcome. Cheers Mark. Last edited by markt1; Feb 3rd, 2013 at 18:01. |
