Default service light interval

what determines the service light interval on a 1994 850 T5R? is it based on rpm, miles, or time? just wondering as mine seems to have come on rather early considering i havent used the car much this year.

I can't remember the specific number, but it will come on after a set number of hours since it was last reset...i.e. when serviced.

Could be interesting - I usually do about 12 000 per year but I'm expecting to do over 3000 in August alone (6 trips to Peterlee will see to that) and it's due a cambelt @ 90000 (currently on 85500) so I'll be booking it in service light or not - last year it came on @ 11900 (three days before the date I'd booked it in for.......................)

From memopry of redng my owner's manual, it will be either passage of time, or miles covered, whichever occurs first.
