Default New S60 Owner - Aircon Not working after 3 days

Hi guys,

After a couple months of looking around I've finally joined the Volvo club and bout a S60 t5 se (2001), in silver with cream leather….

Anyway, I'm chuffed to bits with the car, compared to my old car its streets ahead in every department (and I love the sound of the 5 cylinder engine)… Although a fault seems to have emerged….

I bought the car on Saturday and the dealer told me that the air con has just been re-gassed, I turned on the climate control yesterday and got no cold air and a noise that sounded like a noisy bearing - like a high pitch screeching - coming from the dash…. If I turned off the aircon (but left the fans blowing manually) then the noise disappeared.

Can anyone advise what the problem could be?
Where do I stand with the dealer? (I feel a bit like he had it re-gassed to cover something up) - I don’t have any optional warrenty etc… :-(

Thanks

Andrew

I think that after only 3 days I'd take it back. If he was aware there was some kind of issue with the aircon then I would push the matter. Not sure what the problem is though. Good luck.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums too..

My first move would be to the dealer. I assume they have sold this to your with a warranty?
Get them to fix the issue under said warranty.

Des. . .

Sounds like the compessor has given up. Usually happens when a regas takes place on a compressor that hasnt been serviced for a while. May need a new one. This happened to me on another car on the drive a (2000) Civic. £200 later it had been replaced and all was well.
You need to take it to the dealer you bought it from, and even get a second opinion.
