S 60 Problem

Hi ,, Havnt been on here for several years,, However i have bought a 2002 S60 2.4 Non Turbo,, only done 106000km, Today its Temp gauge went to Max in Red, Mrs phd me and i took water to it ,, but car was full off water and when key was turned on the electric fan started ,, but car only just warm, I drove it home stopping on way to check things ,, Radiator hoses only just warm , heater only just warm, but gauge showing max and fan going, The codes in this car are in Chinese ?? on dash ,, warning lights show engine and triangle with (i) If the thermostat had jammed it must be open to have heater etc still cold or only warm? Ideas?
