I used castrol oil for an oil change on my s70 20v for the last service, before that i used halfords oil and when checking the oil level on both as the car was used, they where both correct colour and engine sounded as it should.

So you will really be splitting hairs choosing, as shell, halfords, castrol will all be good enough quality, its just which brand do you prefer.

Halfords 10W/40 Semi Synth - why pay more for a brand name when the Halfords stuff meets the necessary standards?

I've used the Halfords stuff the vast majority of the time for over 10 years in my 850 and S70 and it's fine. Never tried fully synthetic stuff, not sure how good an idea it is switching to that after 100k miles...

I ran Castrol semi synthetic 10 / 40 previously and it was fine.

Running Halford synthetic 10W / 30 at the moment and that seems fine too.
