Because it's a 10 valve you are having to work it.
The 2.5 20v would probably suit your driving style more. Cheers |

i think i was being a girl because i was a bit worried about pushing an old car to much, but its not everyday i tow so im sure i wont kill it .... (famous last words), also when being pushed it pulls real well.

I've towed with the 10v & 20v & T5 and I found the worse of the bunch was the 20v the 10v had more low down grunt the 20 v only came alive much higher up the rev band , the T5 was a good tow car but all 3 would change down the box on most any incline.

The OP felt he wanted the car to be more steady at travelling speed as the road varied and there in lies the rub. The 10v may pull initially but needs worked more than a 20v once underway.
But the OP has it sussed, 10v? Ring the neck out of it. Cheers |
