Well, it's a sad day, but seeing as no one wants to buy my excellent, but slightly flawed, 740 GLE estate i'm going to have to send it off to the knackers yard. but which one? does anyone know of a volvo breakers in the south west of london area? any info on this and general tips on breaking a car would be greatly appreciated.

yes. it seems fine. we drove to Arran and back with no problems. it's only after it was left standing that the problem started. To be honest I haven't had it looked at thoroughly, but the best advice is that it's the torque converter. we did drive it a few weeks ago, and apart from the screehing noise it seemed fine. I just don't have the time or the money to investigate it further.
