Theatre Dimming Interior Light
Does anyone know how to convert the 'ordinary' 240 centre interior light to the 'theatre dimming' type. I assume on cars so fitted as standard that there must be a capacitor of some sort in the circuitry?
Also, has anyone fitted additional interior lighting (footwell, reading lights etc) to a 240 saloon, and if so, did they encounter any problems? Alec

It is possible to fit an aftermarket dimming kit if they are still avaialable - did this many years ago.
Footwell lights are easy to fit - the side panels can be cut to take a suitable flush lamp and just wire with switching on eath side via door switches. Mike

great idea
hi alec/mike,
what a simple and great idea !!!. gonna have a look as to what type of lights would look/work best and I'll post back. As mike says cutting the console sidepanels would keep the appearance very smart indeed rather than bolting on the new lamps with the various idea's floating around I don't think I'll ever get my 245 finished ;-) regards Brendan

When I last did this I think I used a saloon centre light which is flush.
