1972 Volvo 145 DL
The car will have 12 months MOT and is road tax exempt. It has covered a mere 100,160 miles, verified as genuine with an exceptionally comprehensive service history. This includes MOT's from it's first in 1975 up until 2003, when the car was put into dry storage. Recommissioning then commenced in 2009 and the following is a brief list of work undertaken:
All corrosion has been cut out of the rear inner/outer wheel arches, repair panels fabricated and welded in by a reputable classic car specialist. Interior stripped out, minor amount of welding attended to on the inner sills. Repairs were treated with zinc primer, paint and wax oil, in fact the car has been extensively protected with 'Wurth' cavity wax throughout. The underside of the car is in exceptional condition. Both sides of the car have been painted at some time in its 41 years. The roof and bonnet are original and there is a slight difference in the shades of California White! I have fitted new 'Wipac Quad-optic' headlights with halogen bulbs, replaced the rear light lenses and fitted NOS genuine Volvo rear mudflaps. The wheels have undergone a 'quick' renovation and are all fitted with Kuhmo 165/80x15 tyres, all having 6/7mm of tread. I have fitted rear seat belt mounting bars and thus a set of rear seat belts could easily be fitted if desired. I would be willing to do this for the purchaser, by separate negotiation. The vinyl of the front seats has split as is typical, however the rear seat is in perfect condition. I fitted a set of genuine Volvo 164 seat covers, the rear having to be altered to fit. All door panels, roof lining and carpets are clean and in good condition. All switch gear works as it should. The clock works and the car is fitted with a rev counter. The period radio does not work but I have not investigated this. I have fitted a very discreet immobilizer, which can easily be removed. The cylinder head was removed in 2011. Hardened valve seats and new valves were fitted in order to allow unleaded fuel to be used. The head was skimmed and all internal components cleaned and lubricated prior to reassembly. The original Zenith carburettor has been overhauled including the fitment of a new jet and needle and new braided fuel pipe. The distributor was removed, cleaned, lubricated and fitted with a new rotor arm and Bosch distributor cap and electronic ignition, in the guise of a NOS 'period' Sparkrite unit. Bougicord ignition leads have been fitted also. The exhaust system is stainless steel and all components are in excellent condition. Steel timing gears have replaced the original fibre type. The braking system has been overhauled. New caliper seals and brake hoses fitted. A replacement radiator has been installed and flushed, along with a new thermostat and coolant. The engine, gearbox and axle have all had new oil and treated with Extralube ZX1 and a full service has been carried out. This Volvo is now somewhat of a rarity and would make a practical, daily use classic car. It does have a few minor imperfections that could easily and relatively cheaply be rectified, however there is nothing that needs doing at this time and the car could be driven away and put into daily use with confidence. I acknowledge that the asking price may, by some be considered high however I believe it reflects the true condition of this vehicle. I am willing to negotiate and would consider a part exchange. £3250.00. Please PM your email address and I will forward additional photographs if required. Thanks John, appreciate your message. I really didn't know what price to ask for the car. Compared to other classic cars they seem to be so under valued. There really isn't much that needs doing to make it a really nice example. There is a small amount of festering in the front wings, a very small scab on the tailgate above the wiper spindle and the rear wiper arm fell off one when I was driving, was run over by another car and is now damaged. Too be honest I'm not really sure I want to sell it either but I have 8 cars now and running out of storage space, oh and money!

Nice 145. We had a K reg 145 in white (slightly different front indicators). Brings back memories.
What are your other 7 cars? Regards |

^^^^^^^
Thats a pretty cool collection! I am envious. Always liked those older Saabs. I remember watching a docu on TV about the early Saab design being odd, and that it caused the brakes to stop working, or something dangerous like that. Not sure exactly what the design flaw was, perhaps someone could enlighten me? Regards |
