Default Water leak, window rubber, may have cured it ?

Ever since ive had the car (few weeks) ive noticed that after some rain I had water coming in around the passenger pillar down by the mirror area. I thought that it was either coming through the hood or somehow getting past the rubber.

Since I Fabsil’d the roof (great product) it seemed to get worse instead of better.

So I had a closer look and discovered that the windscreen seal did not seem very tight for about a inch and a half near the pillar. Careful investigation revealed that it was not held firm at all and could be easily pulled up. There appeared to be signs of prolonged water seepage.

I am pretty sure that this is my problem and the water has been travelling down the back of the rubber door seal and making its way into the cockpit. Either way it needs to be sorted asap.

As there appeared no way to clip the rubber back against the screen I went for plan B and cleaned the area with meths before filling the gap with silicone.

I will let you know if this fixes the problem.

If it doesn't fix the problem - there's always Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure.

Wow never seen that stuff before !.

I think the screen seal has gone beyond 60ml though. I am hoping the silicone will hold for a while but long term I will need to look at this problem.

Have to see how I get on in the next downpour.

I am about 50% confident :-/

They also sell larger bottles :-)

I've used it before on a Scimitar, and it did the trick.

Fingers crossed your attempt at solving the problem works, but I fear household grade sealant may eventually fail due to UV Rays.

If it does fail, you can also buy tubes of car window sealant for about £7 on the bay
