Default Trim line removal

As it says, tidying up the sides of the car!

Volvo saw fit to adorn the sides of my 740 with pinstriping- One thin, and one thick black line splatted on top of the elegant Silver paintwork.

Although this may add class and style amongst the executive bunch, for me it untidies what is for the most a very nice clean set of panels. Less is more!!

Anyways, I digress.

Currently I have employed my right Thumbnail, copious amounts of scalding hot water from the Kettle, and much cursing in order to remove the plastic tape pinstriping. it's takeing 'a while' shall we say. I never realised how long the 740 was 'til I started removing the pinstriping...

Is there an easier. less stressful way of removing it?

Considerations:
1. No Electricity supply at the Car.
2. No Gas powered heat gun
3. Purchasing expensive thinners is out of the question!

Over to you lot.

Any ideas?

Nail polish remover usually works on this sort of glued stripe, but it takes all the wax off the paint too, so you'd need to polish the area afterwards

Default removing stickers.

You can use a razor blade to lift the edge of the stripe. (steady hand needed)
use single sided razor blades, beleive me I learned the hard way!

The residue from the stickers comes off really easy with lighter fluid.

This job needs acres of patience but the result is well worth it.

Good luck.

Default removing stickers pt II

forgot to mention using a plastic scraper, like a piece of acrylic with a chisel edge, the plastic will lift the sticker without scratching the paint.
think of using the plastic scraper that comes with your freezer or bastardising a spatula. even run the end of a toothbrush/paintbrush on a benchgrinder to create the chisel profile.

Default update to pin stripe removal.

I am removing the striping and badges.

I tried to light my blowtorch to warm up the striping but it was too windy to sustain a flame.

Found answer by mistake.

left car out in sun for a few hours b4 starting and I did a rear 1/4 and 2 doors in the time it took me to do front wing before.
