Default Low fuel light

Hello all

Can someone please tell me if there is a low fuel light on a XC60 as I,ve just got to 40 miles before empty and still no sign of any warning.

The car is only 3 weeks old.

Thanks in advance.

The general orange warning light usualy comes on not sure what the threshold is though ... keep going and see ! Keep an eye on the fuel gauge thats the most accurate indication you have on the car .. when the last bar has gone start to worry .

Mine came on showing 90 miles. 25 miles later it was showing 35 miles.

Everyone is going to have a different "miles to zero" reading when the light comes on or at any other time , You have to be aware of how it actualy works and it uses the recent average fuel consumption to work it out as you know this can change with each journey , The ONLY indication of how much fuel is left is the FUEL GAUGE .. :-) I think volvo should delete the "miles to zero" function, it helps nobody and confuses most people in thinking their fuel calculatons are wildy wrong when in fact they are accurate ...

Agreed, the "miles to empty tank" indicator is pretty useless. A few months back I'd brimmed the tank, then was going through a long stretch of motorway with 50mph average speed cameras.

The dash was showing 1250 miles to empty tank

But that was the correct reading , you were probably averaging 60 mpg or more at that point .... you would indeed go for 1250 miles if you continued at that pace ...

Just goes to show ..you should have stuck to that speed for the whole journey

I had a similar problem on my S60. Miles to go showed 30 then 15 then 3 dotted lines however I had just put 2 litres in (to get me to Tesco's where I could use my voucher). I appreciate that it is based on average speed etc but to drop off so quickly was quite alarming.
