Default Waze GPS and route-planning app

Does anyone else use this? It's a GPS app that continually updates road conditions from users to a central server then plans routes accordingly.

I was recommended it by a colleague and now use it all the time, even for my standard commute. A couple of times it's routed me around blocked roads and traffic.

e.g. Driving into SW London along the M4 one day, and the same moment as the overhead warnings came on about and obstruction and delays between J2-3 it flashed that it was re-routing me and sent me round the M25 and M3. I was at work 45mins before other colleagues who came in the usual way.

If it senses you have stopped then it asks you about the traffic conditions, also when you stop at a petrol station asks you to update the fuel prices and then allows you to search by brand or price for fuel.

Best of all it is free and there are no ads! (Although I can't see this lasting forever.) It's on Apple, Android and blackberry. I'm quite evangelical about it as the more people use it the more accurate its data...

I have it on my ipad etc
but using it is a pain as it draws too much power and you end up with a flat battery

Also my ipad is a "2" and has no GPS

nice idea until the adds come along ! until such time a stand alone tomtom is safer as it can be mounted higher on the dash etc

Using it on a gps enabled phone mounted on the dash is probably better than a non-gps iPad!

Thumbs up

Hi,

How did I miss this one! Have this installed for nearly 3 years.
I am now one of the country managers too.
Maps are improving (I edit them alot!) and issue are picked up pretty quickly by the team.

Now part of Google, not fecesbook, but there will be adverts on the app as this was part of the developers intented means of income. See recent debate over the current advertiser and their stupid stress points!

Not bad overall and fairly good at getting you to places you don't know.

Des. . .

I'm pretty certain Google has actually acquired Waze now:
