Just had the front camera fitted. Cost £374. Well worth it for making life easier exiting poor visibility exits/car parks. Just now trying to see if it is possible to hook up a recording device to the feed to record say the last 30 minutes or so of footage to help in the event of an accident.

Hi everyone,
I have just installed the front camera on my new S60 and find that the front camera image quality is blurred. The dealer took a look and said that it was 'normal'. I was hoping to get a feel of the image quality in this thread but unfortunately the sample image in post #8 is no longer available. Could a kind soul post a picture of what is the image quality from their front camera so that I can assess if what I am experiencing 'normal' or not. Thank you so much |

Look at Post No.13 on this thread....
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...=139541&page=2 It is a little blurred, the rear view camera does seem clearer; I was also told that the picture quality is normal.

there is a lot of image processing going on to get the image proportional , but all you need to see is whether there is something coming or not really .

I've got the front camera on my XC60. Not able to take illustrative photos at the moment but, generally, it's very useful.
The image isn't particularly clear, but this is often because it is poor light when I'm pulling out (and most cameras are pretty poor in low light) or there is some water (rain) on the lense. The image is generally good enough to see if anything is coming (which is the main point of the camera), particularly if it is poor light when you might expect other road users to have lights which would definitely be visible on the front camera. When I pull out of my drive, I use it but don't rely on it - definitely helps with my slightly awkward drive and I'm glad I add it as an accessory.
