Lightbulb

I have just replaced the bulbs on my center console of a 2004 SE manual. I suspect it is an identical removal.
1. Remove the -ve battery terminal.
2. Remove the surround from the gear stick.
3. Remove the two screws from the base of the console unit.
4.Pull the whole of the centre console downwards. The heater control section complete with radio/cd player comes out as one piece.
5. Remove all of the cables from the rear of the centre console.
6. Remove four screws which will release the radio from it's holder.

You should now see the ten quarter turn grey bulb holders, they turn quite easily but might need assistance to prize them from the rear of the radio.

The part number for the bulbs is 30752175. Ten bulbs from Volvo will set you back £57, ouch. I managed to get some from a local auto electricians for £12 for ten, just replaced the bulb in the holder and put the little blue cover back on. Apparently Maplins also do them.

It was a little bit awkward putting the centre back into position but with a little bit of persuasion it does go.
I read on here that you need to have your key in position II before you reconnect the -ve terminal.

I have removed the console three times in total and never had any fault codes come up afterwards.

Good luck.

I have just bought the bulbs for the heared seat switchs the part number is
p v30739356 442645/bulb £5.30 from volvo today
the bulbs at the bottom to the right of the ciggy lighter are smaller and are the same bulbs you have to replace in the electric window switch.s (which you do not need to take door card off)
and the one for the ignition swich is differant again as i have just ordered that as well
the way to go about taking radio out is as follows
put the key in and set on position one then take the earth off the battery
then unplug radio wires fit the bulbs then what i did was plug radio plugs in place gear stick into park take key out re do battery and then put the key in to check bulbs are ok and working and then refit back together
hope this helps

anyone have ny ideas on how to fit bulb in ignition switch please

thanks

Have at last found a supplier who stocks both the larger (10mm white base) and smaller (8mm white base) bulbs.
The larger part number R509TDBK 12v 1.2w Black T-1/4NW panel bulb. Comes with black base. The smaller part number R509TJBR 14v 1.2w 60MA T3 indicator & panel bulb. Comes with brown base and although 14v does the job.

You just have to remove blue bulb cap from existing and refit to replacement.

The supplier is very helpful and is on ebay. ds4u (UK) Ltd. www,directshopping4u.com or email support@directshopping4u.com

Buying from here will save you a packet.

When I remove the console now it is like a F1 pit stop!!!! Good luck. Al

Does this suggest I have 4 bulbs out hence £20!!!

If so I may look at grafting a 12volt led into the holder
The menu and down arrow have the one bulb behind. Replaced that this morning. See my other post on here to find a perfect replacement. Good luck.
