Default Front windscreen de mist

I have just acquired a 2003 D5, the front demist is rubbish, plenty of air coming out when the demist button is depressed but takes 10 mins at least to start having any effect , any thoughts please

Is the air conditioning working?, as this should turn on when you demist, and the fan should increase speed.

Have you checked for wet under the front carpets, this will cause misting, main problem if they are wet are the drain tubes for the sun roof, in the A pillars lots of info on here about them, if no sun roof check the sealing of the roof bars these can let water in too.
Is yours an auto climate control system?
When I use the button on the console on the right hand side next to the rear window heater button, the air con is turned on and the fan increases speed, screen usually clears within minutes, airflow is directed to the screen.
You need to check that the air con pulley centre part of the pulley is actually electrically engaged, you really need two people for this, switching the switch while somebody is looking in the engine at the pump.

Check for "fluff" in the dashboard sensor (3 slots on the console) ... vacuum or carefully pick the debris out, careful not to pull the sensor bulb end though.

Worth a try.

damp carpets , recirculation set to draw air from inside , pollen filter restricted should be changed yearly, AC not cooling , you cant test it by saying its cool because the normal air temperature outside is lower than the AC emits ! if you touch the large metal AC pipe under the bonnet it should feel ice cold . ... Thermostat faulty , not warming up to N ....
