The new one cost £72. So a saving of about £40 on the last time I bought from the main dealer. Hooray.
But still about £35 more than you can apparently buy them online from a reputable supplier. BooHoo. Anyway at least I feel I am making progress and will know better what to do when the next one fails. At least I know a generic D2R will actually fit despite the advice I received from some quarters (not on the forum). Can't comment about the cheaper brands. But it is difficult to imagine they last less time than the Osram ones our car has had fitted so far. During my web researches of the last few days I recall reading somebody saying that most of the Osram and Philips bulbs that you can buy very cheaply online on eBay are counterfeit - but I don't recall any supporting evidence being cited. Hopefully I won't have another problem for a few more years. Perhaps one day somebody on the forum will buy some of the very cheap far eastern branded makes (e.g the ones pointed out by Adieu at £13.75 a pair) and still have a working Osram or Philips to be able to compare brightness and colour. In fact next time one of mine fails I will do just that. Cheers all. |
