Does anyone else have a broken tripometer? My speedo works but not the trip, i think but dont know that somehiw its connected to that.

Whatever It is It would be nice to get to the bottom of this as its rather annoying!

The delicate plastic parts inside the trip odometer get broken if you reset it while the car is moving apparently.

Its the windscreen seal (prob top edge) Mine used to do this, pulled the rubber back and ran a bead of silicone sealant along the length of the top edge and it fixed it.That was about 3 years ago and the noise has never come back.

Hope this helps

Ahh ha! I did wonder if it could be something like that. But discounted it because it was REALLY loud. I suppose that makes sense with the water thing as well.
I'll be out there with a roll of gaffa tape to see if it temporarily stops or changes the noise. Thanks for the info.

Now you mention it I had a 940 that did this. The windscreen surround trim is held in place by little plastic clips, and an enthusiastic jet-wash once lifted one enough to break. The car did indeed make the most awful noise - until a new clip was fitted.

As mentioned, it's the windscreen trim. I searched for months to figure out what it was before Duncan suggested the trim. I was certain it was some sort of speed warning buzzer!

Not on mine as its been fitted with a replacement front screen with the newer type all rubber suround with no plastic trim insert. I asked about this when i first got my car and It was suggested then it was the screen surround, i have no leaks from mine either.
I have got an audio recording on my phone of the noise mine makes but i can't get It off of my phone onto here. Its deffinately coming from the instrument cluster on mine.

Mine also has the rubber trim, it costs nothing to put a bit of sealant in there. I had no leaks on mine, either water or air.

Worth a go
