Lights in mirror covers
Has anyone done anything like this??
A small cluster of LEDS (fitted to both wing mirror covers) linked to the interior light wiring so that when you unlock the car, you get a light shining from the mirror covers onto the floor?? Similar to that on newer BMWs etc?? |

Think the call them puddle lights or something. Not sure how you'd go about it

I was thinking of running an extension from the interior light wires to through each door and up into the mirror cavity and then fitting a flush mount LED holder into the underside of the wing mirror.
Im assuming that this would then power the LEDs when the interior lights were on (ie when you unlock the doors etc). Thanks |

use the foot well lights they are very close to the door cable entry points so would be far easier than running up to the cabin light.

I'd wire them up before routing them, then trying them out. Can't see a reason they wouldn't work. As Jeff said, the floor lights would be best option

Why not buy the ones that came with puddle lights in the mirror by design? As Volvo did do them....

I doubt very much that I will be buying the Volvo ones as I imagine they will be very expensive!!
I'm not desperate to have them so if I spend a few quid on LEDs and a couple of hours fitting and they don't work then its not the end of the world! |

Find them from a scrappy, you just need the mirror unit base remove your normal mirrors couple of bolts and one connection job done?
