Ok, not a very technical answer but here it is.

Seated in the back.
I'm 5'11", in a V40 without a sunroof I have a comfortable 3 finger clearance in a V40 with a sunroof I have a tight 2 finger clearance. Which equates on my rule to 6cm down to 3.5cm. I wouldn't want to go over any bumps in the road with a 3.5cm clearance!

As a point of interest, would anyone know if the sunroof or any of the glass in Volvo's has any UV protection? If so how much?
