C30 D5 21k 2009. Booked in at dealer who found only slight corrosion no damage except for £650 bill as dealer and Volvo quote out of warranty not their problem. Not dealer serviced and Volvo customer services even admitted it is a loyalty issue. Dealer even stated that they hadn't come across the problem before. They have confirmed the unit is faulty and not accident damage etc so that should help.....

56plate V50 D5 se sports

Owned the car 2 weeks so thought I'd book it in for a health check.
Was advised that i need my front/rear disc & pads and the a.c. not working due to the condenser.
Should i try to get it replaced by the dealer or speak to volvo UK first?

The dealer is always first port of call , but your car is probably too old for any good will etc .. especialy if you bought it from a private source , i would chase up them ..

Wish I had seen this thread earlier .

2009/59 V50 auto, dealer serviced up to three years, last service done by local indy owned and staffed by ex Volvo techs.

Paid £90 for a regass 2 months ago, was OK for a few weeks but has gone back to blowing warm air.

Back to garage who deduced the condensor was corroded. No sign of any leaks on the UV test.

As I am covered by Warranty Direct and they have authorised the repair I don't have to pay.

Is the new condensor fitted by Volvo of better quality than the original, or is regular cleaning/clearing of the condensor advisable?

Newer ones are better made with the QC increased. Still wouldn't say they are the best condensers in the world but not as bad as they were certainly.

Got my volvo serviced 3 days over the 5 years and the condenser has corroded, spoke to volvo and they said they can give me 50% off as good will, serviced only at volvo.

Do you think i should continue to argue as they are not budging.

I would certainly continue arguing. At worst you'll still have to cough 50%, at best they will cover more.
