Has anyone else experienced no sound from the sound system?

It was working fine yesterday drove it this morning 18 mile no sound on the radio switched to the multi changer also no sound turned the volume right down then right up still no sound, turned the stereo off then back on still no sound.

Turned the car off and went in for 5 mins then came back out tried it again and the sound is back really strange

Yes I had the same intermittent problem on my 2005 S40 1.8 sport, standard sound system. Never got to the bottom of it. All I could do was to stop the car, turn off the ignition, remove the key, open closed drive door, lock it and then get back in as normal which usually restored the sound. The radio used to go to pre-set 10 when there was no sound.

I did notice that the lack of sound did not re-occur if when I got into the car and I turned the ignition on whilst putting seat belt on and let the radio start playing and then start the engine. I think the fault only happened when I got in and started the engine straight away.

Hope that helps. I have now sold the car but have a 2010 S40 which has not had the same problem but then again I tend to turn the ignition on, let the radio play whilst putting seat belt on and then start it.
