Default about to chase down minor (?) fuel problem

Good morning from rainy Sydney. 240 GLE all registered and running really well . 'Have to say these are really well built cars and we now have two in the family.

The main (external) fuel pump had gotten a little noisy , it was replaced a few years ago by previous owner . Occasional ' hic- up ' when driving.

So 'reckon I'll start with electrical connections and fuse and then check tank lift pump and then fuel filter - which also looks fairly new.

Car had been sat for a while before I bought it.

I doubt if there's a known common fault in this area but please chime in if you know of one

Otherwise no dramas - apart from electric windows just stopped - hopefully just the fuse.

Cheers and thanks for previous help.

Default easy fix !, now for windows

Nice to have an easy fix - checked fuses - and fuse to lift pump looked dodgy - replaced it and cleaned connections - bingo .

Explanation - for anyone not sure - dodgy supply to lift pump must have been starving /overworking main pump which was causing the noise from the main pump.

Could easily have started pulling bits off underneath car - so always worth checking the easy simple stuff first.

Hopefully that's all there is to it.

Window fuse blown - replaced- not so lucky - still no go . Another day , it's winter anyway.

Cheers

Default windows fixed too! but kind off odd wiring -any expalnation?

Finally got a day off -

Pulled electric window switch unit out - (prise from door with trim remover or screwdriver with tape around it )- switches all looked good - tested with multimeter . Seriously robust looking switches.

Then tried to back car out of garage - It wouldn't start with the electric window switch removed. Popped switch back in - starts OK .

Anyway, it turns out fuses 10 and 12 affect power windows - replaced 12 - which looked OK - and we now have power windows back .

can anyone walk me thru' the wiring logic in 30 words or less ??

Cheers, still raining in Sydney...
