Why is duck oil so expensive? £5 a litre for something you spray on rusty nuts and bolts?

I don't recommend you put it in your engine though.

I recommend we stop talking about oil before the professor of oil comes on and tells us the in's and outs of oil

I put this stuff in mine last time...

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1004-red...il-10w-40.aspx

Bloody expensive! But I've read it's really good for performance cars and a few T4s with big power tend to use it.

Apparently on normal cars you can drain it, change the filter and just dump it back in. Not sure I would do that but hey ho.

Agreed unless you do a used oil analysis to see what the condition of the oil is like!

In general terms, even for race cars, the oil filter is good for the max interval of 10K miles, BUT the oil might not be if subject to fuel or coolant dillution (Race use tends to cause fuel or even Silicon contamination issues). Most serious racers run the thinnest oil that does not blow up the turbo bearings, so a 10/40 is too thick in that respect.

So cars might be better suited to 2 for 1's, but it should be 2 lots of oil for one Volvo filter in most cases. Trucks with big oil sumps are very different and often do 1 for 2 oil changes using an ultra fine oil filter system. A good big rig with full twin oil filter and air pre filter should be good for a max oil change of 100K km, BUT the ultra fine oil filter will probably need changing at 50K km, IF the oil lab say the insolubles are getting near the limit. A truck in Alaska during the winter has oil services based on hours not miles, because of too much idle time keeping the driver warm. 200 hours is common and they always dump oil & both filters together to avoid extra time outside.
