Default Removing Ignition barrel

Ok - Need to swap the ignition barrels around as I'm moving ECUs etc I need to use the key with the diesel. However the lovely shear screws are in the damn way.

So anyone removed these yet? If so what type of drill bit did you use so I can go to town on it once I get a drill bit suitable

You don't have to remove the whole assembly. Just the barrel. Put the key in the barrel, push the pin and turn the key slightly and pull. The barrel will come out with the key

Thanks Gatos for this!

I'm planning to replace the steering column and was wondering how to swap the ignition barrel and here was the answer

What about the other end of the barrel? What is this and does this needs to be swapped out too together with the ignition barrel? Looks like they are related.

That's the ignition switch. No need to replace it
