Nope, no rebuild for me, 1.4 bar peak boost - Near enough dead on compression results and no engine issues after 161,000 miles. It was my turbo that went due to misuse by previous owner...

I'm so glad you listed it all like that because that's his P2 - The car that he currently owns and drives - Nowhere in that list does it detail forged rods/pistons/any engine work? That engine was completely standard!

You didn't answer my sensor question about the ECU? Is this something that was on the P2 but not the P1s?

Not trying to argue, just genuinely interested to know as I've never heard of this 'feature' before...

I don`t like to argue either as i just post factual things that some don`t know and they do get the hump, not mentioning names!

Sorry, i thought that was Pyaap`s phase 1 i perhaps got mixed up with the 2nd one which is as you can see phase 1......

I have a folder with most things from about 6yrs ago to do with T4 and the T5 ....

The phase 1 1855cc T4 does not have any cut out in the ECU designed to safeguard the engine as the engine is forged and does not need it.

Mitch had a phase i with a phase 2 HG on it...Lol... and because he used a cheap old boost hose it blew off the actuator and he reached 26psi and blew the gasket.....but he know`s it all and won`t tell you what happened!...all this excitement happened a few years back...he managed 286bhp because he had no remap as then mappers didn`t do them ...which proves that the phase 1 T4 has no boost cut in the ECU as it would not of made 286bhp on the standard 13psi!...

So Mitch buys a remap for a phase 2 which cost him about £400 and he didn`t do his homework as it will not run on the phase 1 because the P2 has extra sensors which cannot be used on the P1 and so ...\\\Problems ...he asked me to help with ECU pins and pics but i could not help him solve the problem......he forgets all what i did for him and just does try to ridicule me, i think he said the Vodka gets in the way!...just shows you what Human Nature is...so that is why i love him so much...

Although not mentioned in Pyaaps build he would of probably had to have forged rods and stronger pistons to get the reliable 400bhp otherwise bang!...unless of course the map does really limit the boost as Volvo intended in the low gears.

He mentions about "bearings spinning" on a T4 but this is only due to an error in mapping, it has to be as the boost is in the wrong place for the gears and revs.

One of my friends on another site spun his big end bearings and then changed to a better map and it was fine afterwards.......this was with a 2.5 turbo V70
