Default Anybody in the Devon area

I've got in pending work on my s40 but with my right hand man not well and getting on, I'm going to need to borrow somebody for the day with the gear and know how with my help and money in it for the person who wants too help me and my s40. Basically two simple enough jobs I say simple because they are with ramps etc, a days work at the most. I can't and wouldn't want to manhandle my volvo like we do with the BMW e36 banger cars we litterally have them on their side lol and strip bits out its soo easy lol. Something I just wouldn't be willing or couldn't do. My only option at the moment is too put it in somewhere which I hate tbh as I don't know whats going on or to do the car up my drive which would take a good week and agg, So I'm in a quandary as you can see.

Hiya mate well I've sorted the rattle out now so it's just the one job left to do mate and that's fit a clutch and DMf kit. It's not completly fubard but it's showing signs of going west I can't complain tbh 12 years old and 143 thousand miles. It's a job that needs doing.

Smile I'm in Cornwall

Hiya,
I will be in Cornwall boxing day, I am on the Wirral at the moment but live in Launceston, I would be happy to help but I do have a bad back and suffer with sciatica. I can hold things pass you stuff, almost anything apart from heavy lifting, and I love working on cars.

Thanks dude for the offer I was hoping someone had a pair of ramps a workshop type thing I could borrow for half a day lol, I'd sooner do the work myself then i know then, looks like I'm going to have too be on the look out for a garage and cough up the £200 and get them too fit it, but thanks for the offer

Kieran, if its ramps you are after why not make some, couple of lengths of 7x3 floor joist and a bit more sawn into blocks to lift the end up.
If I remember correctly the nearside wheel and suspension leg need to come off then everything comes out the side. Back in the day I would jack the car set it on axil stands and use a trolley jack under the gearbox and a bottle jack under the sump with a piece of wood between the jack and sump to prevent damage.
I know its a faf but I much preferred working on a car on stands rather than over a pit.
Then all you have to do is pray for dry weather.
Advantage of a land rover is I can crawl underneath without ramps. Afrit to touch the Volvo yet, it cost too much.
I have changed gearboxes and clutches in the snow laid in the gutter( mk1 escort) and yes I agree a warm garage with lift is the dogs danglies but if needs must.
Wish you well just don't miss the opertunity of the time off work this holiday period, you are bound to regret it when the car dies.
Regards Paul.
