There are different kinds. One that allows the car to be plugged into the mains - warms up the engine via the cooling system making cold starts a thing of the past.

One that is plumbed into the car and fueled from the main tank - warms up the cabin.

And this one, that recirculates hot water from the motor and radiator which allows the occupants to gain heat stored in the cooling system. Only works for a few minutes after the car is switched off, providing the car is up to operating temperature.

I like the switch.

Wink

I got WI-FE that installs itself on the front passenger seat !!!

Quote:- Going too fast, shut the window, too hot, too cold....etc..etc.

It's voice activated and can be switched off.....

The command is:- SHUT THE **** UP

The problem with this command is that it usually disables the Ishag function.

Still to see one of these with the RTI system or Pro-logic in it also never seen the carbon fibre spark plug cover and under engine cage and I used to mot loads of these at one point for a Volvo dealer...
Don't think I've ever seen so many extras for a car although I would imagine some of the items wont be available in all countries.

I really want to have a go at retrofitting the fuel driven heater.

I know our winters are very rarely as cold for prolonged periods as those in scandinavia but we do get spells that would make it a very welcome accessory.

I couldn't believe it when Volvo said 'Sorry, not available on UK models'.

For those of us who don't have the luxury of a garage, not having to de-ice twenty or thirty mornings a year would be a godsend. Not to mention the reduced engine wear and cold stacking of rings etc. waiting for the (interminably slow) heat to come through.

If anyone has the heater gubbins lying around - let me know...

Get a Webasto that is younger...The Volvo parking heaters are pretty old and prone to fail..They do indeed fit P&P but you also need to be sure all parts of the puzzle are there otherwise it's either crazy expensive or no longer available.

Also for the Webasto ThermoTop there is a remote control system (called Telestart) Volvo had only the timer.

Fitting the Webasto is pretty easy, fit it on the firewall, 2 hoses which are inserted before the heater for the habitacle.
Electrics are also pretty easy, if the car has ECC, you need to wire the output from the Webasto which normaly triggers the fan relay with pin 2 on the big connector from ECC (for 850, 20 or 22 on V70 not sure right now).

If the car has manual climate control is a little more complicated but still doable.

Other then that you need to fit the fuel pump hose (drill a small hole in the cap of the fuel pump and route the hose), fit the small fuel pump under the car and youre good

I even wired the Webasto together with the Volvo timer

Cheers
Cristian
