Default Clonking noise at 60 sometimes

have an 03 V70 D5 auto

*

It has had a minor leak from the metal water pipe down under the exhaust manifold for along time. I recently had this replaced. They had to remove the exhaust manifold and turbo unit to do it.

This may be an unrelated problem, but now when i reach about 60, i hear a sudden clonking noise from the engine compartment or maybe the wheel arch. It stops when i drop down the speed to about 50. I don't know if it would continue if i continued at 60

I've looked around the engine compartment and nothing is loose. There is no sign of anything being worn away in the wheel arch.

It seems related to wheel speed rather than engine speed. The clinking sounds like I've run over something and it is banging on the underside of the car.

Just no idea!

I've not checked, but wouldn't that give me some wobble in the steering?
