Great experience with my dealer, Volvo have reduced the price of the D1S bulbs twice in the last 6 months, So now 2 Bulbs cost around €200 in stead of the previously quoted €350, But as I had a bad experience already with a set of ebay purchased bulbs the dealer did a special price for me and I got them in for less than one would have cost previously!, I have only been into my underground car park in work this morinng but the difference is already clear using the dealer supplied Volvo (Osram) bulbs. Will take out for a spin tonight and see how they are in the pitch dark

Next time I will go to the dealer. I didn't feel comfortable trying to man handle the retaining clip on and off the bulb with the €1000 headlamp on my kitchen table!!!
The best lessons are the hardest learnt !!

I did a guide on changing the headlights bulbs. It's actually quite easy.

I found the wire spring clip that holds the D1S in place, very difficult to get on and off.
Removing and replacing the headlamp is very easy.

These are the ones I got for my V70 - mine has active bi-xenon. They retail for £60 each.

The person who fitted mine probably took 5 minutes doing each one. Didn't seem too tricky.

....

Also found this (didn't spend too much time looking, so there are likely better alternatives)
